Elliot Cardwell

Elliot Cardwell is a partner and senior colorist at Torn Studios. His work spans international documentary, commercial, music video, as well as fashion and art film a wide-ranging practice shaped by a strong sensitivity to texture, tone, and atmosphere.

Rooted in subcultural music scenes, his approach carries a countercultural edge, balanced with a respect for natural beauty; favouring images that feel elegant, with a rich texture that can hold both polish and rawness. He leans toward naturalism, where color settles with intent and texture is allowed to come through the frame.

His recent work includes campaigns for Adidas China and Japan, and Descente, alongside music videos for artists such as Mikah and Cruz Beckham. His documentary work ranges from explorations of doom metal subcultures to art residencies across Kyoto, as well as humanitarian films exploring social issues.
